Mp3 Album " Deep Blue and Orange Hours "
My new album "Deep Blue and Orange Hours" is now available for Mp3 download in my internet store and streaming from various major sites.
Although the music is created in a different way from the previous album "Manipulated Dreams", the soundtrack album for the movie "Dream Manipulator MUGEN", I think I have created a sentimental, nostalgic, and poetic music that brings to mind a poetic view.
I am happy and proud of it. I hope that many people would enjoy it.
Background
The goal of this album is always "music that can invite the listener to an inner voyage", but I had a few other ideas behind the album.
Idea 1 "Layering Sound"
First of all, I had a series called "Imaginary Journey" that was on youtube in 2020. ↓↓.
This was a series I was working on confinement period in France, creating improvised ensembles by layering my own sounds on the PC.
I was having a lot of fun discovering and improving, but I wanted to revisit and develop the improvised content.... So I put the series on hold and began writing music for an electric double bass ensemble around this time.
I've been thinking for a long time that electric double bass ensemble makes a unique sound and rich color and that is very pleasing... and an album in which all parts are played by electric double basses was a project I wanted to create someday.
Idea 2 "Fu-Zei"
For this several years, I want to create music that embodies the feeling of "Fu-Zei" which is one of a Japanese aesthetic senses.
In my own opinion, the feeling "Fu-Zei" indicate a sense of being a part of scales that is beyond the scope of individual comprehension or/and the flow of eternal time or/and the vastness of nature.
So one of my goals was to create the music can give us this kind of sensation.
Idea 3 "Title"
Deep blue was always in my mind during the production process for this album. The reason is simple: in my image, if I were to describe the sound of the double bass in terms of color, it is basically deep blue. So when I listen to that sound, I very often see deep blue in my mind. Plus, the overtone world is yellow or orange for me.
Of course, it can be a completely different color or landscape depending on the melody, harmony, instrumentation, and other overall musical situation.
Whether by coincidence or necessity, the vision that kept coming throughout the entire creation process of this album was a scene where deep blue and orange together...may be,view of morning glow or evening glow... and so the album title and cover were chosen naturally. That's how the album title and cover came to be.
For the titles of each tune, I repeated finding words process that could simply describe the scene that came to mind while listening to each one. And then chose the best.
I was careful this time to keep the words as simple as possible, avoiding any descriptive words or anything that could be connected to personal feelings or stories.

About the release of CD as physical...
I am undecided at the moment. I will write more about this in detail in due course, but to put it simply, as a DIY musician, I was wondering if it would be possible to make a jacket that gives a handmade feeling and also gives the pleasure of picking it up.... Of course, the disc inside will be a standard CD, but I'm thinking about how to make the jacket with handmade spirit, rather than a mass-produced industrial product....
It is very possible that the only jackets would have some variate edition although the disc inside would be the same. In any case, I am still thinking about it.
